Welcome

Hello AssociatedPixels! Welcome to AboutUs.

I noticed your edits to the wiki DomainPage for AssociatedPixels.com and I'm excited that you've chosen to explore the wonderful world of wiki here at AboutUs.org - the place where everyone may collaborate to build the commons and community through their constructive edits and participation. Welcome! Check out the brand new tours to learn about wiki, what AboutUs.org is all about and how to use the site to the fullest. Also, for more ideas on how to spruce up a DomainPage see How to improve AboutUs website pages... and perhaps your page could even be featured on the homepage.

Be sure to let us/me know if you have any questions along the way (you can leave a message on my talk page via the talk link by my name, join the AboutUs WebIRC here, or check the "currently online" section on the homepage for a knowledgeable looking blue-link and send them a message on their talk page). I wonder if you might want to add a little bit about yourself on your personal page? (Check out PersonalPages and 5 Great Reasons to Make a Personal Page for guidance or click my name below to see mine as an example.) Please don't hesitate to let me know if you'd like some assistance in accomplishing your goals on AboutUs, and if you fancy some help or new ideas I've found the help portal to be an excellent resource. Welcome to the AboutUs community - it's great to have you!

Have a most wonderful day!

I just noticed that you deleted the top part of the "domain page boilerplate" that gives the page its framework and the added links with thumbnail to the side. I am going to restore this for now by reverting this edit, but let me know if there was a particular reason that you did this. **Can you please send me a message or e-mail to about this. I am still confused, there are options to remove the thumbnail or have it updated without deleting the whole top template.**

Hello, I apologize. Okay, since you were a new user I wasn't sure if you knew what the top template did as it's not exactly self-explanatory. I wasn't trying to mess with your page. You are right, wiki is about community and collaborating to build the commons and you can make you page as you see fit. I tried several times to engage you in a conversation about this via your talk page (did you get these messages?) and via the edit summaries (hit the history tab and see the notes I left with each edit) and I want more than anything for you to be happy with your page. Again, I just wanted to make sure you weren't deleting the section by accident as in my experience most people like to have the thumbnail and the extra external links to their site. Best wishes, let me know if I can help with anything or if you have any questions. You can reach me via my talk page or by e-mail, Thanks!

Oh, no worries. Yep, we definitely have RealPeople here and we're always patrolling Special:RecentChanges and WelcomingPeople. You can check out our staff here in Portland at Category:AboutUsStaffPortland. I actually live in Camas, Washington myself just east of Vancouver. Where are you? And could I perhaps convince you to add a little something to your PersonalPage so the rest of the community can get to know you? (We can also create a page with your name that your user page can redirect to - see Ray King as an example of this.) And yes, AboutUs "base camp" is in Portland. We have a satellite office in Lahore, Pakistan of all places, I think our servers are in Bellevue, and we have several extremely active community members across the country and into Canada (Nathan is an example of this). If you're interested in learning a bit more about us the WikiAnatomy tours and the page AboutUs.org are good sources. I'm a bit of a photographer myself - I'm that friend that always has her SLR on the ready at get-togethers, but solely amateur. What type of camera do you use? I have a Nikon D50 myself, but I'm always amazed at how fast the technology/equipment is improving. If you ever want to join us for lunch hit us up!

I went ahead and fixed the Domain Page Boilerplate top part as it looks like you want to give it a shot again. Let me know if I can help. Woops, sorry. Um, changing bits of that template will make it not work, like changing thumbnail to image or deleting the top part that says domain page.
KristinaWeis | **talk** 16:57, 13 July 2007 (PDT)
Kristina, I wanted to add an image over on the right side at the top, in the same place. I didn't know how to do that, so I thought I might be able to play around with the code for the domain box. That didn't work, so I was about to remove it again. I'll have to read up to try and figure out how to add the image and get it positioned correctly.

Oh certainly, check out ImageHelp. You must first upload the image and then there are ways to format the picture such as resizing and having it hang to the right or left and have text wrap around it. You can see my personal page User:KristinaWeis as an example of this. KristinaWeis | **talk** 17:17, 13 July 2007 (PDT)

I want to call the image via transclusion, instead of uploading it to the site. I assume I can just specify the url for the image. I'll check out your page for an example of how to place it. Thanks!

You can call it via transclusion, it is just that you have less control over placement of the image. MarkDilley
