Systems Administrator
AboutUs is requesting applicants for the role of Systems Administrator. As a member of the development department, the Systems Administrator will report to the CTO and will work closely with the Software Developers and Community Development groups. We are looking for a candidate who will be adept in the technologies below and who can also communicate seamlessly while balancing the needs of multiple customers. You will be responsible for keeping our growing infrastructure of Linux servers up and running 24/7. Candidates should be able to quickly diagnose problems and implement creative solutions. You must bring professionalism, a can-do attitude and expertise, and be willing to do what is necessary to get the job done!

This job includes the opportunity to feed the development and momentum of a web application that now gets 15 million page views per month.
Must Have
- Has managed high availability production sites.
- Extensive experience administering Linux servers in a production environment.
- Perform production network design, planning, implementation, and maintenance activities.
- Available for 24x7 on call duties for production datacenter systems.
- Knowledge of Production Web infrastructure (eg. Apache, NGINX, Memcached, Rails)
- Knowledge of production storage technologies (LVM, RAID)
- Set up, test and execute data backup and restores.
- Excellent trouble shooting skills
- Self-directed and follow-through
- Highly motivated and tenacious
- Stellar communication skills
Also Desired:
- Experience running product grade environment in the Cloud (especially AWS)
- Knowledge of Virtualization technology
- Experience managing and troubleshooting SQL database servers (preferably MySQL)
- Experience with scripting languages
- Experience working with any SCM software (we use git)
- Knowledge of advanced haproxy configuration
- Familiar with package management and troubleshooting when compiling from source
- Experience with high-volume centralized logging tools (scribe, syslog).
- Experience designing, scheduling and executing Site drills
- Document and design security solutions in a clear and concise manner.

UI Designer/Developer

The job responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Producing wireframes, paper prototypes, HTML mockups
- Implementing designs in our web application
- Working directly with user experience designers and developers to deliver great user experiences on new and existing features
- Creating marketing collateral
We are looking for someone with deep experience in UI design.
- At least 5 years experience
- Online portfolio of web applications
- Ability to create prototypes at a variety of levels of fidelity
- Ability to articulate design decisions backed by experience & research
- Experience with web application and JavaScript frameworks
Pluses include:
- Degree in Graphic Design or Fine Arts
- Experience working in an Agile environment
- jQuery experience
- Rails experience
- Print design experience
