Administrators are AboutUs people who have systems operation rights (often refered to as sysop rights).

Systems operators are not imbued with any special authority, and are equal to everyone else in terms of editorial responsibility. Some consider the terms Sysop and Administrator to be misnomers, as they just indicate people who have had performance- and security-based restrictions on several features lifted because they seemed like trustworthy folks. Systems operators should not have power over other people other than applying decisions made by all people.
The community does look to systems operators to perform essential housekeeping chores that require the extra access systems operators are entrusted with. Among them are keeping an eye on new and changed WikiPages to swiftly delete vandalism, and meeting folks' requests for help that require systems operator access. Since systems operators are experienced members of the community, people seeking help will often turn to them for advice and information.
Abilities of a systems administrator
The wiki software has a few important features that are restricted. Of those restricted features, systems administrators have access to the following:
- Protect and unprotect pages.
- Directly edit protected pages.
- Delete pages and images and their history.
- View and restore deleted pages and images and their history.
- Revert pages quickly. Note that any person can revert a page to an earlier version; systems operators simply have a faster, automated reversion tool to help them revert vandalism.
- Block IP addresses, IP ranges, and peoples accounts for a specific time or indefinitely. See the Blocking Policy for more information.
- Unblock IP addresses, IP ranges, and peoples accounts.
- Sysops can also rename users.
Systems administrators also review edits to mark new edits as constructive.
