- Skip has been riding snowmobiles for over 35 years, and has logged thousands of miles snowmobiling in Maine and Canada. He grew up in Union, Maine and has always enjoyed competetive sports—even as a young child. After his high school graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps, where he served for 7 years as a helicopter crew chief and logged over 4,000 flight hours. During his tenure in the Corps, he served overseas in Beirut, Grenada, Iraq, Iran, and several other Middle-Eastern countries. In preparation for the harsh environments that Marines encounter, he completed extensive cold weather survival training, which will help him run this race.
