I have been gardening for 37 of my 41 years, and am a plant addict. I am a graduate of SUNY Cobleskill with a A.A.S. in Plant Science/Horticulture and a graduate of SUNY Empire State College with a B.S. in Ecology/Environmental Education. I am currently working on my Masters Degree in Ethnobotany. I have been designing gardens for over 20 years and was a nurseryman for many years. I am also the Plant Historian for the Fort Edward Historical Association in Fort Edward, NY, where I am working on period style gardens at the associations Old Fort House Museum. Two years ago I obtained grant funding for the Doctors Apothecary Garden at the museum which opened last year and is now part of the museums educational program. I am currently working on an early 20th century millworkers kitchen garden for the museum, complete with a Victorian Glasshouse. I am committed to teaching people about the importance of using native plants in their yards and gardens to provide beauty and preserve biodiversity. Most of my free time is spent working on my own garden, visiting gardens and nurseries, and obsessing about plants.
