LadyStreets, wholly owned by Alvin International Development Co., was founded more than a decade ago as a wholesaler of finely designed resin figurines. But in 2007, LadyStreets shifted its focus to wholesale silver jewelry.

As founder Alvin Chang explains, a customer special-ordered a silver pendant from LadyStreets for his sweetheart's Valentine’s Day gift. His enthusiastic response to the silver pendant inspired Chang to contemplate a bold new strategy.

"We felt so good about the transaction that we decided right then to expand the silver jewelry line," he says. A new business model was born.

Wholesale silver jewelry and more

LadyStreets (Alvin International Development Company) built a reputation for artistic design in the wholesale figurine business. High-end U.S.-based gift retailer Department 56, which specializes in sales of holiday-themed figurines, was its main customer for nearly a decade. Department 56's demanding design standards set the artistic tone for LadyStreet's new silver jewelry product line.

LadyStreets’ successful move into wholesale silver jewelry is the launching point for a much broader range of women’s products for wholesale and retail -- including a line of stylish bikinis.

Wholesale silver jewelry direct to the customer

Chang intends to rapidly expand LadyStreets’ customer base from wholesale only to the retail market for silver jewelry and related products.

“We will no longer simply manufacture goods or create a design for a few large clients," Chang says. "We’ll be taking our products directly to the customer, be that a retail, wholesale or individual buyer of silver jewelry. This is very different from the way we have operated in the past, and it will open major new sources of revenue for LadyStreets.”

Targets: Export silver jewelry market, Internet sales

Based in Guangdong, China, LadyStreets is focusing on the worldwide silver jewelry market.

“Lovers of fine jewelry and related women’s products appreciate an elegant design, no matter where they live,” Chang says. “So we are targeting much greater export sales as we ramp up our product line.”

LadyStreets is redesigning its website, LadyStreets.com, to boost wholesale and retail sales worldwide. The North American market is currently a high priority.

As the U.S. economy rebounds, Chang expects U.S. wholesale and retail demand for fine silver jewelry to pick up. He wants LadyStreets to be on U.S. buyers’ radar screens when they’re ready to jump back into the high-end gift market.
