Status: NotYet
- We have 70% (7) YES of 10 Staff
NotYet ---------- NotYet
Staff
- TakKendrick (AboutUsStaff)
- Abstain The policy is certainly a lot simpler and clearer. Since this now no longer affects me in any way what so ever, I'm creating a new status for myself -- "Abstain". I'm content to watch if any other shifts to the document occur (and might change my status at that time), but don't want to be a gating factor on this right now and shouldn't be counted in the tallies pro or con at this point. edit
- It would still be great to have your thoughts, but "abstain" is ok too - RK
DiscussionComments and discussion related to my previous stance (re: health insurance) can be viewed in the history; they were taken out of this document because they've all been resolved or proven moot under the new policy.

- YES With the return of the $750 contribution, I feel it is necessary to either define more clearly the terms of this offer or leave it to the company's discretion. edit
DiscussionYES ---------- YES

- Arif Iqbal (AboutUsStaff)
- Abstain This poll is meaningless, the management should simply decide whatever they want to do i.e. whether pay 10%, 20%, 100% ... or not at all. I think many people formulating the policy will never make everybody happy. edit
Discussion - Scott Keeler (AboutUsStaff)
- NotYet I'd like to see all employees with health benefits before spending money on a contribution for an employee owned notebook. I think if an employee would like to work on a notebook the company should buy one for them to use for the length of their employment. A company contribution for an employee owned notebook is a good idea, but should probably come sometime later. edit
Discussion
- Tanwir Shah (AboutUsStaff)
- YES This is good for AboutUs and good for me. edit
DiscussionHey Tanwir, can you expand on why you think this is good for AboutUs and you?
- Hi Tanwir, I wonder if you would be interested in facilitating this consensus poll? Best, Obed Suhail
- Obed, Thank you, I am honoured that you have asked me to facilitate this consensus poll but I think I will decline your kind offer and remain a participant for the moment. I appreciate being asked though. Thanks again. Tanwir Shah
I would be happy to expand upon the comment I made above:
I feel that this offer is good for AboutUs for a number of reasons:
- By sharing the cost the company is saving money
- It could also increase productivity as a laptop is portable and we can work anywhere.
- It gives the image of a caring company by given staff the right to own their own laptop.
It is good for me because if I wanted to buy a top of the range laptop I probably would not be able to afford one. By paying 50% of the cost in 6 installments at the end of which I would own the laptop outright is infinitely more affordable.
- Obed Suhail (AboutUsStaff)
- YES I really like this project: Employee Benefits. Most of my concerns are now addressed. edit
DiscussionObed,
Please correct me if I'm wrong. Here's what I'm hearing.
- LaptopContribution is not the most important employee benefit of those that could be provided.
- If we could address employee benefits as a whole, that would be best.
- If we are not going to address employee benefits as a whole immediately, it might make sense to approve this policy, with the understanding that we would be able to address other employee benefits soon.

- Excellent! Yes, this is exactly what I am thinking. Obed Suhail
Obed, what do you think about a Benefits Consensus Poll? TedErnst | talk 21:01, 19 September 2007 (PDT)
I really like this initiative and the Employee Benefits project. Obed Suhail
- Major shift
