They are inserted into a predrilled hole in the base material. The hole size is determined by the diameter of screw being used, 3/16" diameter needs a 5/32" hole and the ¼" diameter requires a 3/16" hole. The concrete screw is screwed into the hole using a power drill, as the concrete screw goes into the hole it taps threads in the base material. The Tapcon concrete screw comes in two diameters, ¼" and 3/16", seven different lengths, two head styles hex and flat and are made out of stainless steel material as well as the stal-guard plated.
