The Breeze is the only official student newspaper at JMU. The newspaper is printed on Monday and Thursday and ranges between 32 and 56 pages.

The Breeze is made up of two large divisions, the editorial staff and the business staff. Editorial section editors supervise writers. There are News, Sports, Opinion, and Arts & Entertainment sections in the newspaper. In addition, there are photo and graphics staffs. The Breeze also employs a web staff. The business staff sells and designs advertising.

The Breeze has recently been named the Best All-Around Non-Daily Student Newspaper in the country by the Society of Professional Journalists.
