The U.S. Federal Government sponsored the moving of factories outside of the U.S. in 1956. It was a temporary program that never ended and it evolved into so called free trade. Free trade is not trade as historically practiced and defined. It is primarily about dividing production from investments and then moving production from place to place anywhere in the world for the sake of cheaper labor and for growing investments in the process . It makes money a product that grows value in creative ways based on cheap labor. The value of workers and labor is degraded and deflated with this value being a better money standard than paper money created out of nothing by the Federal Reserve Banks and international money funds . In the end nothing matches up and the economies based on making money on money are burned out. President Obama followed the other globalist free trader presidents and bailed out the failed system. He did this while ignoring the suffering of all who lost everything due to the imbalances related to trade. Millions of middle class workers in the U.S. have lost their jobs since 1994. Since then the U.S.has gone through the the most dislocation of jobs in U.S. history including the Great Depression. Both major parties acted as one in this betrayal of workers. Relating to Kevin O'Brien's "The End is Near . . ." assessment:
As an Al Smith (pre-FDR) Democrat and a Teddy Roosevelt antitrust follower, I believe liberalism only gets a chance when conservatives fail to provide for the common good in a society. As long as they are in denial about free trade being the major cause of our economic and social problems, not much good will follow.
The same applies when conservatives fail to enforce the fair trade laws already on the books and protect workers' dignity. Most of them are globalist free traders who do not care about such things.
How can anyone justify living off of the suffering of underclass workers and then tell us how things should be with a plantation-owner mentality?
