Polarizer filters are mainly used to tame reflections and therefore reduce glare in scenes containing natural light reflected off surfaces like glass and water. Polarizing filters will unfortunately not work on metal surfaces though. This makes polarizers a perfect fit for photography containing glass such as automobiles and buildings and outdoor scenes with water and clouds. The effects of a polarizing filter can not be recreated in post production using programs such as Photoshop.
