- The purpose of the Government Affairs Committee is to serve on behalf of the NC AWWA/WEA as the professional representatives of the water and wastewater industries of North Carolina. Primary activities include the following: maintaining meaningful contact with key representatives of regulatory and funding agencies, the Legislature, and other groups and associations whose actions, programs, or activities impact the water and wastewater industries; reviewing proposed legislation or regulations and initiating the development of position papers where opposition or support is of significant consequence; and initiating position papers on needs, regulatory reform, or other topics of broad applicability to the Associations and membership.
