Description

Multiple Sclerosis is a disease that randomly attacks your nervous system, deteriorating the control you have over your body. Symptoms range from numbness to paralysis to blindness. MS is devastating because it's so unpredictable. The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of the disease cannot be foreseen. You never know when attacks will occur, how long they will last, or how sever the will be. Most people diagnosed with MS are between the ages of 20 and 40, but the unpredictable physical and emotional effects can last forever. Over 5200 Oregonians are afflicted with MS.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) is a non-profit organization with offices throughout the US. There goal is to provide local support for those effected with MS, and to fund the National MS Research Center which is attempting to find a cure. All of the NMSS offices organize events to fund this activity. For more information contact the Oregon Chaprter:

The Oregon Chapter in Portland organizes the MS Walk (5/10/20K walk), the MS 150 Bike Tour (150 miles over two days), The MS Golf Tournament (18 holes), The MS Auction (semi-formal), and MS Dinner of Champions (formal).
