I started programming as a child -- it started with loops of my name rolling on my Commodore 64, progressing to piping out tones, programming them beep by beep, to the tune of Inspector Gadget, then evolving through QW Basic, VB, and in college, C/C++, Assembly-Language, Cobol / JCL, and others. During my Master's studies, Grinnell Fire Protection Services approached me in order to develop their web site. See, I had created several sites for friends and small companies in the early 90s when web developers and designers weren't as prevalent. Although I wasn't advertising myself as a "webmaster," they found me by word of mouth, and my web development career began.

A company called New Media hired me as a Web Programmer where I was subcontracted out to work at Rockwell on their Web Motor Ordering System, and intranet. My work as an independent contractor increased during that time, and I eventually left New Media to start ImageNation, Inc., Web Development and Design. My staff and I began handling more clients including Grinnell's parent company, Tyco, subsidiaries like Gem Fire Protection, and Tyco Asia, world-famous companies like Xerox, as well as smaller, cutting-edge companies like Marsh, Berry & Co. ImageNation specialized in Web Application Development using cutting-edge client and server side techniques. I sold ImageNation, Inc. in 2001, and pursued independent software development full-time.

As an independent software developer, I have focused my efforts on integrating my favorite subjects into web-based solutions. Zoe, a web android / bot, works on all platforms, not just Microsoft (very important for web-based solutions). She's had many incarnations, including an MP4 version, an SVG version, and ultimately a Flash version that chats with users over the Internet. Skeletor-bot, another android, is my in-the-flesh, er, in-the-plastic talking, speech recognizing version of a talkbot. He's made appearances at a couple of my Halloween parties, and likes to keep me company while I'm working. Other endeavors include a web-based sales-force automation program in development, dubbed My Sales Maker, Wearable Computing hardware hacks, Speech Synthesis and Recognition programs, as well as general web development for clients.
