The company was established in Hastings, on the Mornington Peninsula in 1984 by a group of local business people and is managed by executive directors: Felix Gander, Managing Director and Tony Murrell, Editorial Director. The Board of The Independent News Group is committed to provide our staff, advertisers and readers with the opportunity to produce and enjoy quality, locally owned newspapers in our region and be the voice of our community.
The company’s commercial arm, Civic Promotions, produces magazines and brochures, as well as specialist publications for a number of clients. Letterbox Promotions, a division of The Independent News Group, is involved with the distribution of newspapers, catalogues and other direct marketing material.
The newspapers with a combined weekly audited circulation of more than 178,000 copies and in excess of a quarter million readers each week, cover the City of Frankston, City of Kingston, Mornington Peninsula and Western Port region as well as the designated south-east growth corridor including Springvale, Dandenong and Cranbourne through to Koo Wee Rup and Lang Lang.
