Has served for 20 years in the United States Army as a Chief Warrant Officer
Began his military career in Huntington West, Va
Attended Marshall University and taught ROTC
Has served at various assignments throughout the world, in Europe, Vietnam and Korea
Has been awarded awards including the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal
Upon his retirement he was awarded The Legion of Merit
Volunteer and community activities include being on the Executive Board of United Way of Pierce County, Chairman Emeritus for the Executive Board of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Tacoma and Pierce County, and board member for The News Tribune Foundation Scholarship Committee
Has also served on various Tacoma Public Utilities committees and the Emergency Planning Committee for Pierce County
