Fair Trade , or alternative trade , refers to the exchange of goods or services based on principles of economic and social justice; a lot of words, but what do they mean?
Our group ( Far East Handicrafts , Jeweled Elephant ) and The Stephen R. Novak Foundation have been trading, educating and are being educated by our craftspeople for over 15 years. These people are our dear friends and we are theirs as well. We have strong relationsips with the families that transcend models of "business as usual".
Here in the United States there are Fair Trade Member retailers, church organizations, web sites and catalogs promoting Fair Trade Member products. You can find almost anything that you need. Visit www.fairtradefederation.org and get a list of members.
