- This site was begun in late 1997 as a way for me to learn simple web development and design techniques, I was 17 at the time. Eventually the site acquired some message boards, show listings, the works, but it was hand updated. Anyone that has hand updated a website knows how much of a huge pain in the butt it is. I was working a job as web developer in Phoenixville at the time, so I put the skills I was learning at work to use in the site. I coded v1.0 of Pahardcore.com in ASP using an MS Access Database, and it worked well for it's time of use. Eventually the site was getting much more traffic than expected, so I ported the site to a Coldfusion/MS SQL combo, which has been working well. Coldfusion makes it simple to quickly add new features, and its ability to handle the 7000+ unique user sessions we get a day is amazing. Numerous large bands and labels send me their releases for reviews, bands constantly update their band entries, and the show listing is always full.
