Based in the Philadelphia metropolitan area and in operation since 1977, Carson Concrete Corporation is among the best-known companies in the industry throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Chosen to do the concrete work on the Bucks County Justice Center, which broke ground on July 19, 2011, Carson Concrete provided the 11,000 cubic yards of concrete needed for the $84 million building cost. Company Vice President Anthony Samango III said at the time, “The project requires 1,100 ready-mix trucks delivering concrete for the footings, walls, and 300,000 square feet of floors. We will also use 500 tons of reinforcing steel.” Samango is the son of Anthony Samango Jr., who founded Carson Concrete 35 years ago.

Built on an undeveloped site, the Bucks County Justice Center necessitated Carson Concrete’s purchase of a new rough terrain crane, the Terex RT 670, which is designed for heavy lifting and the fast pace of commercial construction in a space such as an undeveloped site that offers limited mobility. This crane, chosen personally by Anthony Samango III, helped place the 500 tons of rebar and move formwork, and other construction material. Carson Concrete also owns other cranes and heavy equipment and has used these on developed sites for projects like Major League Baseball’s Citizens Bank Park and One Liberty Place, one of the tallest buildings in Philadelphia.

The Terex RT 670 Rough Terrain Crane gives Carson Concrete more flexibility than ever to take on jobs on any site. With the same platform as larger cranes and a 111-foot telescoping boom, the crane provides enormous stability and range. Anthony Samango actually visited the Terex plant as this model was under construction to see if it would fit the challenges presented by the Bucks County project. This attention to detail is a hallmark of Carson Concrete and one of the reasons the company continues to work on some of the highest-profile construction jobs on the East Coast.
