Kelly has been my best friend since the eighth grade. We've been all over the place together. We've been on a roadtrip with my mother from Florida to Ohio, we've driven from New Jersey to Maine together, and have been to every state in between together. Whenever we're together, it takes about five minutes and I feel like I'm a kid again. Nothing has changed in 28 years. To celebrate our 40th birthdays, in 2005 we took a magical trip to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon, the best vacation I ever had. I had to have my gigglebox overhauled afterwards we had so much fun. To prove the point of the magical nature of the trip, as we were leaving the Grand Canyon, my mother's favorite song came on the radio. Now, there are about three radio stations out there: one was a talk station, one had religious programming the then AHA's Take On Me played...??? Pretty remarkable, I think. AND we were able to get my sister on her cell phone before the song was over. Kelly knew and loved my mom, so she'll always be able to know me better than anyone else, except my sister.
Hugh lives in New York and is constantly amusing me somehow. We spend lots of time together going to the movies or plays or just bumming around the city, but Hugh especially likes to go fine-dining. If there's a cheesecake he hasn't sampled on the East Coast of the United States, I'd be surprised. He's taken me to the best restaurants I've ever eaten at, and I'd never have spent the money on them myself. In February 2004, Huey and I became housemates. He lives in the duplex downstairs and I have the top-floor two-bedroom apartment. He's become particularly fond of Sarah, my fat cat (and the feeling appears to be reciprocated). Hugh has also been a travelling buddy. We've had great trips to Key West, Beaver Creek, Colo., London, the beaches of S.C., Washington, D.C. and Hawaii. Yes, Huey's very generous.
