- I’m a woman and a mother in my mid-thirties and have been married for more than a decade. I worked at a large media company for three days more than a decade when I realized that I wanted to try something different. I’m way too young to stay at the same company for 20 years — people just don’t do that anymore. I know that if I stayed I’d be one of those people. Those people who’ve worked at the company longer than I’ve been alive. So, I left. Found a great, fantastic, “shinny penny” kind of job. Until it ended, after only three months. The company (another large media company – this one plays some of your favorite TV shows) moved the local operation to another state, where it snows. I was asked to move, but declined. It just isn’t the right time to uproot my family. So, I stayed. Without a job.
