The web site's owner, Dan Liebke, started the site after an all-night marathon of Police Academy videos. He has claimed in interviews that it took him 'almost four years' to recover from that initial misstep.

I don't even DO reviews!
I stumbled across Astonishing Tales! one evening in 2002 or 2003. The main reason I can't remember the exact date, or even the year, is because since the moment I laid eyes on Liebke's corner of cyberspace, it seemed as though this web site had always been - and would always be - there to make me laugh. And, boy, HAS it. Astonishing Tales! is one of the few websites which can be perused over and over and over, with the promise that you'll laugh at the same things again and again.
Also, I throw up a lot after reading the comic book reviews. Partly because I don't understand what Liebke is on about most of the time when the name "Grant Morrison" is mentioned, and partly because I'm just an excitable person.
