Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy's, a non-profit, charitable organization, mission is to protect the Southern Appalachian mountains for present and future generations. SAHC works with landowners on a voluntary basis to protect land and water resources through various techniques, including outright purchase and innovative transactions that preserve private ownership. To date, 20,000 acres in North Carolina and Tennessee have been protected.
