The Southern California Aeronautic Association (Aero Club of Southern California) (SCAA) traces its roots to the mid-1920s, when it was formed as the local chapter of the National Aeronautic Association. A few years earlier, during World War I, the new science of powered flight had captured the public's imagination when aircraft were used in wartime roles.
