- Action Graphics was founded by husband and wife team, John and Bev Ursem in November 1981 and initially began operations by offering graphic design and typesetting services to the local industry. Income was supported by the ownership of a national magazine called Archery Action, a bi-monthly magazine catering for field archers and bowhunters within Australia.
- A screenprinting division was created by bringing in John's brother Peter and his wife Gerda in 1982 to cater for local demand and supplying archery field/bowhunting targets to clubs situated troughout Australia. Looking for further growth representation throughout Queensland was brought about by engaging the services of commission agents.
