The "about us" information on the internet (and more)

AboutUs hosts communities of organizations and their constituents. We launched a year ago with a focus on those organizations with enough purpose to have a domain name, though we don't consider our site to be just a directory. Instead we are building a resource that merges information with human will, including commercial interests, using the power of wiki. By celebrating the "long-tail" of organizations on the web, AboutUs might be called the Wikipedia of the "not quite as notable," or the Facebook of people working together.

Why come to the site?

Because this really is all about us (you, me, everyone). AboutUs provides a uniquely neutral space to comment and collaborate on the things that you care about. You can find and work with people who share the same interests as you; read and write reviews and constructive criticism about products and websites; share your knowledge with a global audience; participate in consensus polls and other decision-making processes; and learn new things.

About the staff

AboutUs utilizes a core staff that is augmented by the great work of our community members. Past wiki projects started by AboutUs staff include the original wiki, WikiIndex, ICANNwiki, and FortWiki. We're proud of these, but we're even more proud of the common-ground that AboutUs can form between these and every other project, even those that you don't even know you've thought of yet.
