==Description==

South Tabor is a neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. It's located south of Mt. Tabor, an extinct volcano that is part of the Boring Lava Field, and that houses one of the city's largest and best-loved parks.

The neighborhood is officially recognized by the City's Office of Neighborhood Involvement (ONI), extending from SE 52nd to 82nd Avenues, and from SE Division St. to SE Powell Boulevard. The neighborhood is served by [[Southeast Uplift]] (SEUL), one of the City's seven neighborhood coalitions, which provides resources and assists with access to City Hall.

Anyone who lives, works, or owns a business in South Tabor may be considered a member of the South Tabor Neighborhood Association (STNA). STNA meets every third Thursday at 7:00pm at [http://trinity-fellowship.com‎ Trinity Fellowship Church]. (No meeting in December; June, July, and August have historically not had meetings either, but that may be changing.)

With the MetroFi free wireless plan fizzling in June '08, the [http://personaltelco.net Personal Telco] group's approach -- building a free wireless network for Portland, one neighbor at a time -- may be poised to take over. But as of yet, we don't have any Personal Telco wireless nodes in South Tabor. Willing to share your Internet connection? Get involved! It's not too hard to do, or expensive, and it can be done in a way that doesn't open up security threats. See [http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&gl=us&ptab=2&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=109552172868034756592.00044718ea55e1b6a9216&ll=45.500211,-122.595577&spn=0.031102,0.074844&z=14 this Google Map] for nodes in or near South Tabor -- hopefully some more will be springing up soon! -[[User:Peteforsyth|Pete]] 14:07, 22 June 2008 (PDT)
