It is the American Caribbean. If you love balmy, tropical breezes, warm water for swimming, kayaking, sailing and fishing, and the easy laid back lifestyle of island life with the cultural amenities of a small, trendy city, Key West should be pretty high on your list of places to live.

In Key West, the sun shines brightest when it sets. Every evening, locals and tourists alike gather to celebrate the setting sun. Some flock the traditional Sunset Celebration where the sun’s nightly show is framed by jugglers, mimes, musicians and street artists. Others take in the fiery slide into the sea from the Fort Zachary State Park, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

As the sun sets, the beat of the city rises. A night beat. The streets overflow with fun, people fill the sidewalk cafes and the world famous open-air bars, such as the Green Parrot and Sloppy Joe’s come alive. Gourmets and gourmands alike treat their palates to island specialties. Key West stages offer theatricals, drama, musicals and comedy, as well as symphonies, classical concerts and jazz greats.

The island's seafaring tradition continues at Historic Seaport district, known locally as the Key West Bight. Dozens of shrimp boats once called this harbor home. Today, "the Bight" offers numerous charters for day sailing, sunset cruises, ferries to the Dry Tortugas, fishing, diving and snorkeling, eco tours and dolphin watches. Wonderful restaurants line the boardwalk on the edge of the water.

It’s easy to find yourself at the center of this welcoming, warm hearted town. Everyone is embraced! The city’s “ancient” history is steeped in an embrace of diversity of cultural and ethnic backgrounds – and recent economic history was spearheaded by Key West’s vibrant Gay and Lesbian Community, which led island's economic and social revival in the 1980's. We hope to welcome you home to Key West soon!
