TheWikiWay:RealPeople

Real People, Real Names

Is a person more likely to join a community online if they see that there are Real People involved? Are they less likely to participate in an online community with characters like RedDog88, Snivelcritter, etc?

We believe there is a certain professionalism and reputation when real people are involved, and a transparency that helps build trust. At AboutUs we encourage people to use their names to build a place on the internet that others will want to join. We want people to use their real names but it's certainly not a barrier to participation here.

That's why you'll see much of our community members making posts, edits and suggestion using their real names as their identify. We encourage you to do the same. If your account name is a pseudonym of sorts your personal page can be redirected to one using your real name if you wish.
