We are a traditional old company, where one can find a combination of the fine quality of Tyrolean felt hats, the flair of Viennese fashion, the classic loden of Salzburg, and Corinthian folklore. Over a long period of time, “know how” poured into the imperial city from all parts of the monarchy, the Siebenbürger cloth-makers and the southern Austrian industry provided for a unique and diversified palette of merchandise.
Oberwalder & Co. was established as a production and retail company in 1870. Merchandise was obtained from all parts of the many cultured empire.
Today, we can be found on two truly historical sites. First, between St. Stephan’s cathederal and the Vienna Opera House. Our address is Kaerntnerstrasse 39 ( at the corner of Annagasse), next to the Esterhazy palace. Our second shop is located on the most famous “shopping mile” in Austria: the Vienna Mariahilferstrasse, which runs between the Hofburg (winter palace) and Schönbrunn (summer palace). This street’s fame is due to the daily coach ride that the Emporer Franz Josef took to and from his summer residence.
