Description

NMB would love to hear about your breast milk donation experience! If you are interested in sharing your story, please contact the National Milk Bank Director for more details.

Midway through my journey as a surrogate mother, I decided that I wanted to donate my breast milk. After much searching for a local milk bank in my area with no success, I found Prolacta Bioscience and was sold. The fact that my milk is pasteurized and given to Neonatal Intensive Care Units was what drew me to them. I was put in touch with the National Milk Bank, a milk bank that sends their milk to Prolacta to process. The NMB Director was more than helpful in assisting me with the application and screening process so that I would be ready to donate as soon as the baby was born. I was provided with an electric pump and supplies at no cost and within days of my baby’s delivery, was sending off my first donation! The fact that I could ship my milk from my own front door via FedEx made the process virtually effortless. My experience with both The National Milk Bank and Prolacta has been wonderful. I have a deep sense of pride and gratification for the contribution that I have been able to make and I appreciate the companies for providing such a service, not only to donating mothers, but to the babies in need. This experience for me is best summed up in a comment made to me by the NMB courier on a recent phone call who said, “I’ll be by to pick up your milk and we’ll save some babies!” I love sharing my surrogacy story with others and my milk donation is great “icing on the cake”.
