International SGML/XML Users' Group
Description
The International SGML/XML Users' Group (ISUG) is a federation of user groups and individuals that support users through sharing knowledge of markup technologies and influencing the development of related standards.
ISUG assists the development of existing user groups and encourages the formation of new user groups in regions where none exist. Local chapters of ISUG arrange events and offer a friendly support network for markup users and implementors. Members of affiliated groups can benefit from access to other members and resources, increasing their knowledge about markup standards that benefits their organizations.
ISUG has official liaison status with ISO through SC34 (the group that maintains the SGML family of standards). Members of ISUG who are unable to participate at their national level can be involved with ISO's SGML work through the Group. ISUG members may thus work behind the scenes to support and develop SGML and related standards. ISUG also has liaison status with OASIS, the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards.
