- I was born Claire Elizabeth Brewer in Swindon in the county of Wiltshire on the 9th January 1971. After an average education at Hreod Parkway school and an exemplary grounding in computing principles at New College, I escaped from the parental restrictions of home and went to study for a computer science degree at the Hatfield Polytechnic (now University of Hertfordshire) in September 1990. I didn't do particularly well, gaining only a third class degree - with honours though :) This was probably due to the amount of programming involved with the course. I do have a logical and analytical mind, but it wasn't enough to get my head round concurrent ADA and functional languages. I sort of fell into my support career after leaving university and found that actually, I was rather good at explaining to people how to do something without actually knowing lots about what I was talking about.
