- In 1929 Garrett Veenstra was an ambitious entrepreneur with a wife and three young children to support. At the beginning of the Great Depression, he started a new business of wrecking old buildings and selling used lumber and materials. In short order the Company added new building materials, and in 1932 opened a second location in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
