BhamWiki is part of the Project to Document the Birmingham District. BhamWiki is based on the Wikipedia model and runs on MediaWiki software.
The purpose of the site is to compile a useful and ever-growing resource of verifiable information about the city of Birmingham, Alabama (USA). LIke Wikipedia, content is published under a free license (The Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike license). Unlike Wikipedia, editing is limited to registered users.
As of January, 2008 the site has over 3,400 individual articles.
