- Al Shaw, came to Ontario California in 1960, after serving 15 years in the Air Force and doing a tour of duty in Korea. He Graduated with a degree in business from Cal Poly and started his own contracting business in 1965. In 1971 with the purchase of S&L Paint Store, The Company became 'Al Shaw's S&L Paint and Patio'. During the 1970s, as Al's kids were getting older, he eventually employed all the family members. His sons Jay and Steve would do the installing of Awnings, Patio Covers, Linoleum, and Carpet. Al's Daughter Debbie worked as secretary, and wife Joyce ran the Paint Store, and did the book keeping. Al Shaw worked hard promoting the business and doing all the sales, ordering and scheduling of jobs.
